of Western California Board of Governors
On
July 1, 2012, the University of Western California
Board of Governors assumed office, implementing
the new institutional governance process, for the
five
years, the new President of the Board as from this
date is Dr. William G. Walter.
The
powers and duties of the UWC Board of Governors
include:
1. The
control, supervision and management of the financial,
business, and education policies and
affairs of University;
2. The development and regular updating of an institutional
master plan and compact with the Higher Education Policy
Commission;
3. The preparation of an annual budget request for
the University which relates directly to the mission,
goals, and projections as found in the institutional
master plan and the institutional compact;
4. The review, at least every five years, of all academic
programs offered at the University;
5. The approval of the teacher education programs offered
in the University;
6. The management of all personnel matters, including,
but not limited to, classification, compensation, and
discipline for employees of the University;
7. To solicit and utilize or expend voluntary support,
including financial contributions and support services,
for the University;
8. The appointment of the president, subject to the
approval of the Policy Commission; and
9. To enter into contracts or consortium agreements
with the public schools, private schools, or private
industry to provide technical, vocational, college
preparatory, remedial, and customized training courses.
